Energy Recovery’s Ultra PX™ energy recovery device for Ultra High-Pressure Reverse Osmosis (UHPRO) wastewater treatment dramatically reduces the energy needs, costs and emissions associated with treating industrial wastewater discharge with UHPRO. Designed with the pressure exchanger technology that powers our award-winning PX® Pressure Exchanger® (PX) energy recovery device for SWRO, the Ultra PX can handle pressures of up to 120 bar while delivering the superior performance our customers know and trust.

UHPRO is increasingly used in wastewater treatment processes for zero liquid discharge (ZLD) and minimal liquid discharge (MLD) wastewater treatment processes, which aim to reduce wastewater discharge and reuse water from industrial applications. Unlike traditional methods to achieve ZLD and MLD, which require expensive and energy intensive thermal desalination technologies, UHPRO can be applied as a cost-effective, reliable, and efficient alternative to thermal. The result: far less thermal desalination is needed to achieve the same ZLD and MLD treatment objectives.

Our Ultra PX makes UHPRO even more cost-competitive by reducing the energy waste of the UHPRO process, thus reducing the size of the Thermal plant. The Ultra PX returns pressure energy to the system, ultimately reducing overall energy costs and emissions.

Pair the Ultra PX energy recovery device with our UHP Circulation Pump for an end-to-end energy recovery solution that maximizes efficiency and cost savings. The UHP Pump targets UHPRO processes for ZLD and MLD applications with flow ranging from 4.5 to 13.6 m³/hr and is specifically designed to operate in an ultra high-pressure environment.
